How do we make Community Owned Information Networks work for the poor?

Workshop Details

Date: 25 - 27 June 2008
Venue: Emerald Auditorium, CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria, South Africa
Aim: The purpose of the workshop is to promote networking and collaboration amongst potential partners in the Wireless Africa initiative. Our research focus is supporting community based operators to roll out their networks in ways that are financially sustainable and technically appropriate. We are keen to explore new network approaches based on Open Source Software and Hardware plus innovative business models and services. At the workshop, we would like everyone to share their ideas and then explore how to push back the barriers to access.
